Between Review by Astrid Yrigollen

This was taken from Astrid Yrigollen with her permission:

Cyndi Tefft knows the heart and longings of a young lady on the verge of womanhood."Between" is filled with passion, angst, longing and the inner turmoil of making decisions that may hurt the ones you love.I especially liked the fact that it did not end with a "to be continued" but wraps up the story with a nice ending , yet leaves it open for the second book ,"The Hell Transporter" (which is on my to read list). There are things that I want to know about Aiden and Lindsey future adventures! A sensual, but clean read, Tefft delivers a delightful story that will captivate the young adult in us all.

This History of Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day past last Thursday so I thought we'd spend today talking a little about love.

Photo Not Mine

Originally I was just going to talk about the history of Valentine's Day but honestly it was a little boring. Here's the basic and dumbed down, version: Roman Emperor decided that soldiers were more likely to go out and risk their lives if they weren't married so he banned marriage. Saint Valentine married a bunch of people in secret but he was eventually caught and killed.

Beautiful right?

But it does bring up a very good point about the holiday. It's become this day of grand genstures and obligations of love when really, it was about having the right to celebrate your love.

I love that you get to see that in the Between books. It's these two people who just love each other and want to be together and are determined to be together against all odds.

It's also a good example of the differences between Finding Love, Falling in Love and Being in Love.

Regardless, ain't love grand?

What is your definition of love? Let me know in the comments.

Interview with Diana Gabaldon

I am so honored and incredibly excited to sit down with Diana Gabaldon today to talk about her writing and the eighth book in the Outlander Series.

From her site (www.dianagabaldon.com):

Diana Gabaldon is the author of the award-winning, #1 NYT-bestselling OUTLANDER novels...The adventure began in 1991 with the classic OUTLANDER (“historical fiction with a Moebius twist”)...Gabaldon (it’s pronounced “GAA-bull-dohn”—rhymes with “stone”) has also written several books in a sub-series featuring Lord John Grey (a major minor character from the main series)...Returning to her comic-book roots, she has also written a graphic novel titled THE EXILE (set within the OUTLANDER universe and featuring the main characters from OUTLANDER), but told from the viewpoint of Jamie Fraser and his godfather, Murtagh.
Gabaldon is presently working on the third Lord John novel (LORD JOHN AND THE SCOTTISH PRISONER), and the eighth book in the OUTLANDER series (WRITTEN IN MY OWN HEART'S BLOOD). In addition, she is working on a contemporary mystery series, set in Phoenix, and has written Highly Scholarly Introductions (with masses of footnotes) to recent Modern Library editions of Sir Walter Scott’s IVANHOE and Thomas Paine’s COMMON SENSE.

Dr. Gabaldon holds three degrees in science: Zoology, Marine Biology, and Quantitative Behavioral Ecology, (plus an honorary degree as Doctor of Humane Letters, which entitles her to be “Diana Gabaldon, Ph.D., D.H.L.” She supposes this is better than “Diana Gabaldon, Phd.X,”) and spent a dozen years as a university professor with an expertise in scientific computation before beginning to write fiction.
She and her husband, Douglas Watkins, have three adult children and live mostly in Scottsdale, Arizona.
